Fall Is Here! Let’s Keep Our Homes From “Fall”ing Apart

Oct 17 2022

Fall is here! The season can be one of the most beautiful times of the year, with the fall foliage, the crisp weather, and pumpkin spice everywhere! With all the season’s changes, it is the perfect time to check in on some important home maintenance.

Tip #1 – Clean Out Your Gutters

Despite the beautiful leaves falling and changing colors, it is important to not let them clog your gutters. Clogged gutters can lead to a weakened roof, leaks inside of your home, damage to your home’s foundation, and issues with your home’s insulation.

Tip #2 – Examine Your Roof

Along with leaves falling on your roof, in some parts of the country, fall may mean snow trickling down too. Sometimes we can get extremely heavy snow falling on our roofs, and we need to make sure we have a durable foundation for the snow to fall on.

Tip #3 – Regular Water Heater Maintenance

With the dropping temperatures, it is important to prepare to stay warm! One way you can keep your house warm is to assess the health of your water heater. Water heaters oftentimes have issues during the colder months due to sediment build-up and the stress colder weather may have on the connection pipes. A great way to mitigate issues with water heaters is flushing it every several months and checking it often to prevent that build-up.

While you’re in the check-up mood, take the time to check-up on the rest of your home appliances and critical components! With these simple check-ups, we can keep the lifespan and health of our home in top shape.
